From its fledgling beginnings in 1979, when John Smart established the Company, through it's expansion and diversification; New County is today, one of the North East of England's leading Road Construction Companies.

With its in house Traffic Management, Road Planing / Milling and Road Surfacing operations, the Company are able to offer both Local Authorities and Major Contractors, a full works package, including where necessary, a Minor Civil Engineering support service. Together with this, all of the fully employed workforce consist of local labour, drawn from over the North East.

The Company continually strives for perfection and for this reason most of the workforce, from Traffic Management operatives with Class 12A certificates, through Planing/Milling and Road Surfacing, who have R.A.S.W.A. or C.I.T.B. Certificates of Competence, to Plant Operators, who are also certified, give the necessary expertise required in today's industry. It is also fully aware of its responsibilities on Health & Safety, which it closely monitors, along with its independent assessors.

Together with certification of the workforce, the Company also holds full National Accreditation to the BS EN ISO: 9002 Quality Assurance Scheme, through Lloyds. As part of its ongoing development, the Company is also working towards "Best Value" and in particular, partnering arrangements, with its current Local Authority and Major Contractor clients.

The Company's highly respected name and reputation, throughout the area, holds it in good stead and gives it the ability to use this as a base for the Company's continual development and growth for many years to come.
